Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts is seeking a Groundsperson to support the crew by performing ground-based tree and brush clearing, loading/unloading, and site cleanup. A valid driver’s license is required, and weather conditions demand outdoor work throughout the day.

You will operate hand tools and light equipment, follow safety rules, and travel for storm restoration as needed. This full-time role offers health benefits and a 401K, with emphasis on endurance and teamwork in varied terrains.

Qualifications

• Must possess physical strength and balance to drag heavy limbs, use chain saw and pruners in uneven terrain.
• Must be able to work outdoors under varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions.
• Must be able to hear verbal instructions from a distance.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR.
• Must be able to wear necessary PPE.
• Must have and maintain a Driver’s License if hired for a driving position.
• Must be able to comprehend verbal job instructions.
• Must be able to maintain balance over uneven terrain.
• Must be able to communicate with others.
• Must have endurance for an 8–10 hour day.
• Must be able to operate and service all required tools and equipment.
• Must be able to travel out of town for storm restoration work when needed.

Responsibilities

• Always follow and help enforce safe practices and rules.
• Keep work area clear of debris.
• Work from the ground and clear undergrowth from right-of-way using saws and pruners.
• Load and unload trucks with logs, brush and debris; feed brush into chipper.
• Use hand lines to lower limbs and equipment.
• Perform general clean-up of job sites after completion.
• Carry, prepare, and store materials, tools and equipment at the work site.
• Set up and break down road signs; flag traffic for safety.
• Drive truck or operate other equipment as assigned.
• Perform basic maintenance on trucks and equipment; report major repairs.
• Safeguard employees and public from hazards; maintain orderly work areas.
• Perform duties for storm work as needed.
