Job summary

SBM Management Services, LP in Hawaii is seeking a Groundskeeper to maintain estate landscapes and ensure safety, cleanliness, and beauty across designated areas. You will follow PPE rules, assist with plant care, and provide cost information for landscaping services.

The role includes leading a small project team, operating mowers and pruning equipment, maintaining irrigation systems, and performing routine repairs around the grounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Six months related experience and/or training preferred.
• May be required to have a valid driver's license and complete safety trainings.

Responsibilities

• Comply with safety rules, policies and procedures including use of PPE and stop at risk behaviors.
• Communicate with management and coworkers on plant care or selection.
• Provide information about landscaping services and/or costs.
• Lead a small team through short term projects.
• Mow or edge lawns with power mowers or edger.
• Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges with grounds equipment.
• Fell large trees.
• Perform minor repairs on fences, gates, roadways, pathways, or walls.
• Operate and maintain grounds equipment (hedge trimmers, chainsaws, clippers, mowers, tractors, UTVs/ATVs).
• Maintain irrigation system and install irrigation materials as necessary.
• Water and irrigate lawns, trees or plants using portable sprinklers.
• Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass or shrubs and apply mulch.
• Apply fertilizer, compost, mulch and other amendments.
• Gather and dispose of green-waste and trash materials.
• Respond to trouble calls.
• Assist house crew preparing amenities as necessary (boat prep, kayaks, paddleboards, ATVs).

Job Overview

The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the estate landscape safety, cleanliness, and beauty, specifically in assigned areas such as sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, nursery, or other grounds features.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Comply with safety rules, policies and procedures including use of personal protective equipment. Stops at risk behaviors of others and self
• Communicate with management and co-workers advise on plant care and/or selection
• Provide information about landscaping services and/or costs
• Comfortable leading a small team through short term projects
• Mow or edge lawns, using power mowers or edger
• Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges using grounds maintenance equipment
• Fell large trees
• Make minor repairs to items such as fences, gates, roadways, pathways, or walls
• Operate and perform regular maintenance/minor repairs on grounds maintenance equipment such as hedge trimmers, chainsaws, electric clippers, sod cutters, line trimmers, mowers, tractors, UTVs, ATVs, trucks, or pruning saws
• Maintain irrigation system and install irrigation materials as necessary
• Use irrigation methods to adjust the amount of water consumption and to prevent waste
• Water and irrigate lawns, trees, or plants using portable sprinkler systems
• Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, or shrubs and apply mulch for protection, using gardening tools
• Apply fertilizer, compost, mulch and other amendments
• Gather, remove, and dispose of green-waste and/or trash materials
• Respond to "trouble calls"
• Assist house crew preparing amenities as necessary, including but not limited to boat preparation and/or maintenance and setting kayaks, paddleboards, and ATVs

Education and/ or Experience

• High school diploma / GED - preferred
