Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts in Havelock, NC is seeking a Groundsperson to support the crew on the ground and help keep work zones safe and clear. You will use handsaws, pole saws, pruners, loppers and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees, set up staging areas, and feed brush into a woodchipper.

This full-time position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license (CDL preferred), and the ability to pass a background check and drug screen.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
• Valid Driver's license required. CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules and maintain a clean, safe work zone.
• Work from the ground to keep area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws, pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
• Define staging areas and set up/break down material, tools, and equipment as required.
• Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper.
• Load/unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris; operate various trucks and equipment as assigned.
• Perform basic maintenance on trucks and equipment; report major repairs as needed.
• Safely tie knots, rope breaks, and speed lines per industry standards.
• Guard employees and the public from hazards; flag traffic as needed.
• Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.
