Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts and Kendall Vegetation Services is hiring a Groundsperson in Havelock, NC. The role supports the crew from the ground, observing all safety rules to guarantee a clean and safe work zone.

You will work long hours with potential overtime and weekends, and must have a valid driver's license (CDL preferred). Responsibilities include clearing debris, setting up staging areas, feeding brush to woodchipper, loading/unloading vehicles, and performing basic truck/equipment maintenance

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
• Valid Driver’s license required. CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work from the ground to keep work area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws and pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
• Define staging areas and set up/break down material, tools, and equipment as required.
• Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper and load/unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris.
• Operate various trucks and equipment as assigned and perform basic maintenance on them.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards; flag traffic to prevent harm.
• Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.
