Job summary

Texas Southmost College in Brownsville, TX is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker to perform landscaping and maintenance across campus properties. This role includes mowing, pruning, irrigation tasks, and maintaining safe, presentable grounds for students and staff.

The position requires a high school diploma or 6 months of grounds maintenance experience and a valid Texas driver’s license. You will operate and maintain campus equipment, follow safety procedures, and coordinate with facilities

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent or 6 months of grounds maintenance experience.
Valid Texas driver's license.
Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.
Ability to use hand tools and operate motorized equipment.

Responsibilities

Cuts lawns; trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls.
Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth.
Sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides; rakes leaves.
Cleans grounds and removes litter; removes weeds from campus locations.
Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs; waters lawn and shrubs.
Performs weed eating duties.
Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts.
Operates, cleans, repairs and services all equipment used in grounds maintenance.
