Job summary

The City of Brownsville is seeking a Librarian to supervise library staff and deliver excellent customer service at the City Library Main Branch. The Librarian reports to the Assistant Library Branch Manager and oversees daily operations and programs.

The position requires a Master’s in Library Science or equivalent, a Texas driver’s license, and experience in leadership, budgeting, and community outreach to support library patrons.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library Science (ALA-accredited) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven ability to supervise staff and manage library operations.
• Strong customer service and research skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise library employees and volunteers; manage day-to-day operations.
• Provide training and supervision; prepare staff schedules.
• Report events to Library Administration; maintain statistics.
