Job summary

Facility Services Management Inc. is seeking a Grounds & Custodial Manager to lead the daily operations of our Grounds and Custodial shop.

You will supervise staff, plan work, and ensure grounds, landscaping, and facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained. The ideal candidate has strong leadership, safety mindset, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high standards of cleanliness and appearance across facilities and outdoor spaces.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least five years in Grounds and Custodial trade or credentials.
• Supervisory experience managing a diverse workforce.
• Read and write English.
• Valid state driver’s license with insurable record.
• Working knowledge of equipment used in grounds and custodial maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the Grounds and Custodial team.
• Plan, assign, and direct work based on priorities.
• Oversee landscaping and grounds maintenance (mowing, edging, trimming, weeding).
• Perform erosion control, herbicide application, and seasonal plantings.
• Inspect work in progress for quality, methods, and deadlines.
• Allocate personnel, materials, equipment, and vehicles for projects.
• Assign tasks, set sequences, and establish deadlines.
• Adjust procedures/schedules to complete work efficiently.
• Ensure facilities are clean, stocked with supplies, and safe.
• Maintain equipment, vehicles, and tools; monitor usage.
• Communicate with O&M Manager about progress and concerns.
• Train, coach, and support team members.
• Address concerns following organizational policies.
• Perform hands-on grounds/custodial work as needed.
