Job summary

Chain Electric Company is seeking a Groundman to support Lineman in power line construction, repair, and storm restoration. The role involves preparing vehicles with tools, stocking materials, and maintaining equipment while traveling 100% of the time and working irregular hours as needed.

The candidate must obtain a CDL-A within the first six months, have a valid driver’s license, own hand tools, and meet physical requirements for demanding tasks in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Travel 100% of the time
• Work irregular hours, weekends and holidays as needed
• Possess a valid driver's license
• Live within one-hour drive of Covington, LA
• Must obtain CDL-A within six months of employment
• Possess own hand tools
• Good driving record
• Physically able to perform demanding construction duties
• Able to read and follow instructions
• Able to travel at a moment's notice
• Able to lift at least 50 lbs
• Able to hear at long distances and see colors with depth perception

Responsibilities

• Organize and prepare vehicles with tools and materials for daily jobs
• Assist Lineman with pole framing and other tasks
• Maintain and stock trucks with commonly used materials
• Prepare equipment and worksite for tasks
• Load, unload and identify materials and tools
• Operate equipment and use hand/power tools safely
• Keep work areas clean and organized
• Schedule and perform tasks under supervision as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
