Job summary

Meijer is seeking a Store Team Leader to plan, direct, and supervise daily store operations. You will mentor and coach team members, implement strategies to enhance customer service, and drive store sales while meeting customer needs efficiently.

Responsibilities include staffing, promotion decisions, maintaining store standards, and ensuring training compliance. The role emphasizes safety, attendance, and proactive leadership across departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members with clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict by addressing root cause issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions; ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• Mentor team members across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Serve as mentor and coach for all team members; implement customer service strategies to drive sales.
• Ensure store appearance aligns with prime shopping hours and company standards.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning and career development; involved in promotion decisions.
• Maintain P&L and control shrink for the department.
• Provide fast, friendly, and exceptional customer service.
• Ensure team is trained and aligned with Meijer standards.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings.
