Job summary

Good Foods Co-op in Lexington, KY is seeking an experienced Grocery Purchasing Manager to lead purchasing and inventory operations within the Grocery Department. You will coach a buying team, manage pricing accuracy, and support category management to ensure product availability and department profitability.

Qualifications

• 5 years of grocery, retail purchasing, buying, or related operational experience.
• At least 1 year of management or supervisory experience.
• Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of grocery purchasing, inventory, pricing, and category management.
• Experience with vendors, purchasing systems, and inventory processes.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and sales reporting tools.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in pricing and product information.
• Ability to analyze sales trends, margins, and product movement.

Responsibilities

• Lead purchasing and inventory operations within the Grocery Department.
• Coordinate purchasing activities, ordering processes, and inventory replenishment.
• Assist with employee scheduling, hiring, onboarding, training, and evaluations.
• Provide leadership, coaching, accountability, and development to the buying team.
• Oversee product pricing, price updates, and product information accuracy.
• Support category management including product selection, assortment planning, and performance analysis.
• Monitor costs, margins, inventory turns, and purchasing efficiency.
• Identify new products, evaluate underperformers, and maintain shopper-aligned assortment.
• Support vendor relationships, sourcing, terms, and promotions.
• Ensure accurate ordering, invoicing, receiving, and inventory records.
• Monitor OOS/overstock, shrink, and overall inventory performance.
• Coordinate promotional pricing and seasonal purchasing initiatives.
• Assist with counts, reporting, and inventory systems.
• Collaborate with Grocery Operations Manager on pricing accuracy and availability.
