Job summary

Food City is seeking an Designated Assistant Store Manager to lead the grocery department in the Store Manager's absence. This role requires completion of the Designated Assistant Manager Training Program and accountability for daily operations, budgeting, staffing, and customer service.

You will supervise store personnel, control labor and expenses, uphold safety policies, and drive merchandising and promotions.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School graduate; college helpful.
• Leadership and employee/customer relations training helpful.
• 3–5 years experience in retail operations; department manager for at least 1 year.
• Ability to meet standard Physical, Mental, and Visual demands.
• Ability to follow verbal/written instructions; periodic interaction with various levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional service by maintaining a strong grocery management team and adequate coverage.
• Promote company benefits including ESOP, 401k, insurance, etc.
• Assist in hiring and termination of associates to maintain staffed departments.
• Ensure training to increase retention of quality associates.
• Assist Store Manager in enforcing company policies and procedures.
