Job summary

Food City is seeking a Designated Assistant Store Manager to lead the grocery department in the absence of the Store Manager. This role requires completion of the Designated Assistant Manager Training Program and involves managing daily store operations, driving sales, controlling costs, and ensuring a customer-focused environment.

The candidate will supervise grocery personnel, assist in budgeting, promote company benefits, and uphold safety and policy compliance across the store.

Qualifications

• Three to five years experience in retail operations, operating as a department manager for at least one year.
• Ability to meet standard Physical, Mental, and Visual demands.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks and have constant contact/interaction with various levels of individuals on a daily basis.
• Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional service by maintaining a strong grocery management team and adequate coverage.
• Promote company benefits including ESOP, 401k, and insurance.
• Assist in hiring/termination decisions to maintain staffed departments.
• Ensure training to increase retention of quality associates.
• Support Store Manager in policy compliance and safety procedures.
• Oversee safety, security, and loss prevention measures.
• Lead interactions with management, associates, and customers.
• Manage pricing, receiving, and invoicing within guidelines.
• Maintain back room and merchandise setup and inventory levels.
• Monitor compliance with labor guidelines and age restrictions for employees under 18.
