Food City is seeking a Designated Assistant Store Manager to oversee daily grocery department operations in Chattanooga, TN. This role supports the Store Manager and may carry another main responsibility. You will lead staff, manage budgets and promotions, and ensure a customer-service oriented environment across the store.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in retail ops, leadership training, and strong scheduling skills. Commitment to safety, compliance, and community involvement is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School graduate, college helpful.
• Three to five years experience in retail operations, operating as a department manager for at least one year.
• Ability to meet standard Physical, Mental, and Visual demands.
• Ability to follow instructions and interact with various levels daily.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional service for customers through maintaining a strong grocery management team and adequate coverage.
• Understand and promote company benefits including ESOP, 401k, insurance, etc.
• Make recommendations on hiring and termination of associates to maintain staffed grocery departments.
• Ensure required department training to increase retention of quality associates.
• Assist Store Manager in ensuring policy and procedures are followed for good business and department practices.
• Oversee safety and security measures including theft and/or robbery.
• Interact professionally with management, associates, supervision, and customers.
