Job summary

Food City is seeking a Designated Assistant Store Manager to oversee daily grocery department operations in the Jasper, AL location. This associate may hold another main job responsibility and will act in the absence of the Store Manager.

You will supervise staff, drive sales, manage budgets and labor costs, ensure safety, training, and compliance with policies while delivering exceptional customer service to the community.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School graduate; college helpful.
• 3–5 years in retail operations, 1 year as a dept manager.
• Able to meet physical, mental, and visual demands.
• Follow verbal/written instructions; perform routine tasks daily.
• On-site work during scheduled shifts per attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service with a strong grocery management team.
• Promote company benefits including ESOP, 401k, and insurance.
• Recommend hiring/terminations to maintain staffed departments.
• Ensure department training to retain quality associates.
• Assist Store Manager in policy and procedure adherence.
• Oversee safety, security, and loss prevention measures.
• Interact professionally with management, associates, and customers.
• Monitor pricing, receiving, and invoicing within guidelines.
• Maintain back room conditions and inventory levels.
• Enforce age limitations for equipment and conduct.
• Support inventories and shrink controls in grocery areas.
