Job summary

The Kroger Family of Companies is seeking an Assistant Department Manager for the Grocery Department at 9000 Staples Mill Rd, Henrico, VA. You will help plan, organize, staff, train and direct associates to deliver prompt, courteous service while maximizing store sales in a safe, ethical manner.

Responsibilities include staffing, scheduling, coaching, pricing and display of merchandise, maintaining signage and cleanliness, and ensuring adherence to company programs and policies.

Qualifications

• Willing to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights as required.
• Willing and available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to make quick, sound decisions.
• Calmly handle stressful situations and leave a positive impression on customers and associates.
• Experience in grocery retail operations including merchandising and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Department Manager in organizing work, filling staffing needs, and training and scheduling associates.
• Respond to customer or associate comments, complaints, requests, accidents and questions in a prompt, tactful, and professional manner.
• Use CAO to manage ordering quantities and balance on hand in the Department Manager’s absence.
• Price and display merchandise, maintain signage, rotation, freshness, and space allocation.
• Engage and counsel associates in merchandising techniques, customer service, and promotions.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and maintain a harassment-free work environment.
• Provide input on department budgets, goals, and results.
• Communicate with associates and customers to create a positive impression.
