Job summary

Kroger is seeking an Assistant Department Manager for the Grocery Department in store operations. You will assist with organizing work, staffing, training and directing associates to deliver prompt, courteous service while maximizing store sales and profits within policy.

You will also support merchandising, pricing and promotions and ensure safety and a positive customer experience. The role requires flexibility across shifts and weekends, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage

Qualifications

• Experience in production, merchandising and customer service related to sale of merchandise.
• Understanding of department operations (staffing, merchandising, CAO, inventory, shrink, scheduling, expenses).
• Knowledge of employment laws and OSHA compliance.
• Able to operate power machinery and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist Department Manager in organizing work, staffing and training associates.
• Provide prompt, courteous service to customers and address questions or complaints.
• Use CAO to order merchandise and manage inventory in the department manager's absence.
• Price, display and rotate merchandise; maintain signage and space allocation for products.
• Promote effective merchandising, customer service and promotional activities.
• Implement company programs and policies; ensure a respectful, safe work environment.
• Provide input on department budgets, goals and results.
• Communicate with associates and customers to create a positive impression.
• Maintain equipment and facilities to company standards and sanitary requirements.
• Promote company initiatives and process improvements to staff.
