Job summary

The Kroger Co. is hiring an Assistant Department Manager in the Grocery Department at 525 E Clifty Dr, Madison, IN. You will help plan, organize, staff, train and direct associates, ensuring prompt, courteous service and safe, ethical operations.

You will support the Department Manager with scheduling, merchandising, pricing and promotions, while upholding company policies and safety standards. The role emphasizes teamwork, integrity, and a customer-first approach.

• Able to operate power machinery and work with various job tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist Department Manager in organizing work, staffing, training and scheduling associates.
• Provide prompt, courteous service to customers and address questions or complaints professionally.
• Use CAO to manage ordering and balance on hand in the Department Manager’s absence.
• Price and display merchandise, maintain signage, rotation, freshness and space allocation.
• Engage associates in merchandising techniques, customer service and promotions.
• Ensure compliance with company policies including dress code, sanitation and harassment policies.
• Provide input on department budgets, goals and results.
• Communicate with associates and customers to create a positive impression.
• Maintain equipment and facilities in good order and sanitary standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
