Job summary

Safeway in Goodyear, AZ is seeking an experienced Grocery Department assistant to support the Grocery Manager and the Grocery Third Person in daily operations, including training staff, ordering, receiving, stocking and merchandising.

You will help oversee store operations in the absence of senior leadership, ensuring customer service standards, inventory control, sanitation, safety, and policy adherence. Weekend/evening availability may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Grocery Manager and Grocery Third Person in planning, organizing and directing day-to-day operations of the Grocery Department.
• Perform ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking, rotating and merchandising duties.
• Support implementation of merchandising policies and store director instructions; control shrink.
• Open and close the store; may back up cashier and employ suggestive selling.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, security, and other policies; take corrective action as needed.
