Job summary

RWE Supply & Trading Americas, LLC in Austin, TX seeks a Grid Modeling Manager to lead the development, validation, and maintenance of electrical models for utility-scale projects. You will coordinate modeling activities, review results, and drive ISO/RTO submissions.

You will work with internal teams and consultants on PSCAD/TSAT/PSS/E studies, mentor junior engineers, and ensure adherence to evolving grid-code requirements while supporting design and compliance efforts across wind, solar,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
• 1 year of relevant experience in power systems modelling or grid compliance.
• Proficiency with PSS/E, ASPEN One-liner, and related interconnection modelling inputs.
• Experience preparing interconnection queue packages and deficiency responses.
• Strong ISO/RTO modelling knowledge across MISO, PJM, SPP, NYISO, and SERC regions.
• Experience with utility-scale solar, wind, BESS, and gas projects and IBR behaviour.
• Experience with single-line diagrams, impedance calculations, and steady-state inverter modelling.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead ISO/RTO interconnection modeling package preparation and data.
• Coordinate consultant-led PSCAD, TSAT, and PSS/E studies and reviews.
• Develop, maintain, validate, and document electrical models for wind, solar, BESS, and gas projects.
• Prepare plant representation, inverter sizing, impedance, transformer and collector assumptions.
• Support short-circuit and ASPEN One-liner modeling where applicable.
• Review consultant outputs for reasonableness and alignment with requirements.
• Resolve ISO/RTO modeling deficiencies and support queue changes.
• Track evolving grid code and modelling requirements (NERC, ISO/RTO, P2800.2).
• Develop internal modelling standards and repeatable study workflows.
• Cross-train and mentor junior engineers on modelling practices.
