Job summary

Invenergy LLC, headquartered in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to support grid modeling, compliance, and performance analyses for renewable projects and transmission facilities.

You will develop power system models, tune plant controllers with OEMs, and ensure adherence to grid codes while coordinating with ISO and utilities. This role requires travel up to 15% and on-site presence in downtown Chicago.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar field.
• 2+ years of professional experience performing power system studies (power flow, transient stability, EMT, short circuit).
• Specialized coursework in power systems is desirable.
• Knowledge of renewable generation operation, design and control.
• Experience with power system modelling tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, ASPEN Oneliner.
• Knowledge of EHV/HV infrastructure and coordination with OEMs.

Responsibilities

• Perform grid studies related to power electronic and power systems control of renewable generation, battery energy storage systems, and HVDC modeling and analysis.
• Develop power system models for different renewable generation projects in PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, ASPEN Oneliner, and other tools.
• Assist in developing and tuning power plant controllers with OEMs to meet grid code requirements.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NERC standards and IEEE/WECC guidelines.
• Support interconnection and grid analysis with engineering teams, including design, studies, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Communicate analyses and solutions to stakeholders through reports and presentations.
• Attend on-site meetings with ISO, utilities, and vendors.
