Job summary

SGS Consulting seeks an electrical engineer to perform power system analyses for generator interconnection studies and system planning in Austin, TX. You will run transmission studies, develop models and tools, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable grid integration of new resources.

The role requires hands-on experience with PSS/E, knowledge of NERC standards, and strong reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Less than 1 year to 2+ years of experience in electric utility or power systems industry.
• Experience in power system modeling, analysis, or utility interconnection studies preferred.
• Familiarity with transmission planning and grid reliability standards.
• Strong foundational knowledge of electrical engineering principles.
• Experience with data analysis and technical reporting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical engineering analysis to support generator interconnection studies and system planning
• Conduct power flow and load flow studies to evaluate feasibility of new generation interconnections
• Analyze simulated and actual system operating results to ensure compliance with applicable standards
• Review interconnection applications for compliance with Planning Guides, Protocols, and technical requirements
• Develop system models, tools, and procedures for power system studies and analysis
• Identify system issues and propose technical solutions for current and future grid reliability
• Track interconnection project milestones from study request through commercial operation
• Communicate technical requirements, study results, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders
• Support process improvements related to interconnection workflows, data management, and reporting
• Prepare technical reports documenting analysis, findings, and recommendations
• Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to ensure reliable grid integration of new resources
