Job summary

SGS Consulting in Austin, TX seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer with 10–17 years of experience and a P.E. license to lead design and evaluation of electrical systems for power generation, transmission, distribution, and storage.

You will develop conceptual designs, interpret NEC/IEEE standards, mentor staff, and coordinate with clients and multi-office teams to ensure compliant, cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Electrical Engineering (Power).
• 10–13 years of relevant Electrical engineering experience or 14–17 years of related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct independent Electrical engineering work requiring judgment in evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineering techniques and criteria.
• Lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of electrical components and systems used in power generation, transmission, distribution, and storage of electricity.
• Develop conceptual designs for Electrical engineering projects with specialized or unique requirements.
• Interpret new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data.
• Communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions to upper management and project leadership.
• Support preparation of cost estimates, staffing requirements, and project schedules.
• Prepare or oversee discipline estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget.
• Coordinate with client representatives to obtain approval of Electrical-related work.
• Mentor Electrical engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training and technical guidance.
• Participate in and provide input to technical training and educational programs as directed.
