Job summary

Hitachi Energy USA Inc. is seeking a Service Engineer to support installation, commissioning, and service activities for power quality and grid integration systems across North America.

The role is office-based with emphasis on administrative and phone support to field teams and customers, including remote troubleshooting. The candidate should have a BS in engineering, experience with control systems, knowledge of substation equipment, electrical safety standards, and familiarity with SVC/HVDC

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent in electricity/power systems.
• Experience with computer-based control systems.
• Knowledge of substation products, equipment, and engineering practices.
• Knowledge of electrical safety measures, safety regulations, and standards (ANSI, CSA, IEC).
• Familiarity with power electronics technologies such as SVC, Series Capacitors, or HVDC.
• Ability to work autonomously in time-critical scenarios and travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Support service activities to meet customer requirements related to power quality systems, including hardware, software, networking, and control.
• Serve as primary support for service teams and customers, including phone triage and coordinated intake of service needs.
• Provide remote troubleshooting using system documentation and technical references.
• Support local functional acceptance testing and general service coordination activities.
• Assist with system-focused training for internal junior engineers and customers.
• Collaborate with peers, engineering teams, project managers, suppliers, and customers to support service delivery.
• Contribute to internal process improvement and service execution enhancements.
• Support Grid Integration service coordination for FACTS and HVDC applications.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
