Job summary

FirstEnergy subsidiary Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) seeks a qualified candidate to monitor and manage the regional distribution system from Holmdel, NJ or Morristown, NJ. The role requires operating SCADA/EMS and related systems, coordinating outages, and ensuring safety and reliability of the grid.

Candidates should have an electrical engineering degree or equivalent experience, plus EEI SO/PD II testing and strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering/Electrical Engineering Technology, or related certification.
• Or minimum of 2-4 years' related work experience.
• Pass the Edison Electric Institute (EEi) System Operator/Power Dispatching Test (SO/PD II).
• Knowledge of distribution operation, maintenance and construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Monitor day-to-day operations of the regional distribution system.
• Ensure safety per APH and Manual of Operations.
• Recommend operational improvements and communicate system events.
• Provide customer service to internal/external stakeholders.
• Operate SCADA EMS, GIS, OMS, EDOA and related systems.
• Analyze disturbances and restore normal configuration.
• Coordinate outages and load transfers.
• Develop switching orders and contingencies.
• Direct switching activities to field personnel.
• Monitor weather and staffing needs; call for resources as needed.
• Progress training to Regional Distribution System Operator level.
• Understand bargaining unit agreements with field labor.
