Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. is seeking a Regional Distribution System Operator in NJ to monitor the distribution network and operate critical control systems from Holmdel or Morristown. You will analyze disturbances, coordinate outages, and guide field crews to maintain reliable service.

Qualifications include an engineering degree or 2–4 years' related experience and EEI testing. You must reside within a 45-minute commute and be able to work rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related certification is required.
• Or minimum of 2-4 years' related work experience with understanding to operate the distribution system.
• Pass the Edison Electric Institute (EEi) System Operator/Power Dispatching Test (SO/PD II).
• Capable of problem solving, multi-tasking and teamwork.
• Live within 45 minutes commute time; willing to work rotating shifts and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Monitor day-to-day operations of the regional distribution system.
• Operate SCADA EMS, GIS, OMS, EDOA, DCC, and related communications systems.
• Analyze disturbances and restore the system to normal configuration.
• Provide technical analysis, monitor systems, schedule outages and load transfers.
• Coordinate staffing and assign switching to field personnel.
• Develop switching orders and recommendations from various information sources.
