Job summary

FirstEnergy’s Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) is seeking a Regional Distribution System Operator candidate for Holmdel, NJ or Morristown, NJ. You will monitor and control the regional distribution network, operate critical systems, and coordinate outages with field staff to maintain reliable service.

Ideal candidates have an electrical engineering background with 2–4 years of relevant experience, pass the EEI SO/PD II test, and reside within 45 minutes of the office, ready for rotating

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering/Electrical Engineering Technology, or related certification.
• 2–4 years' related work experience in distribution system operations may be considered.
• Pass the Edison Electric Institute SO/PD II test.
• Ability to solve problems, multi-task, and work in a team.
• Knowledge of transmission and distribution operation, maintenance, and construction practices.
• Strong reading, interpretation of drawings, and switching procedures.
• Ability to learn mainframe and computer applications.
• Live within a 45-minute commute to Holmdel or Morristown; willing to rotate shifts.

Responsibilities

• Monitor day-to-day operations of the regional distribution system.
• Operate SCADA EMS, EMS, GIS, OMS, and other outage and notification systems.
• Provide timely analysis and communicate events to appropriate personnel.
• Coordinate outages, load transfers, and switching orders with field staff.
• Support safety initiatives and adhere to APH and manuals.
• Develop scenarios to identify problems caused by contingencies.
• Assist with staffing and overtime during emergencies.
