Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. (JCP&L) seeks an experienced professional to join the Regional Distribution team in Holmdel, NJ or Morristown, NJ.

You will monitor daily distribution operations and ensure safety compliance, with opportunities to progress toward the Regional Distribution System Operator role. The position requires 2–4 years of related experience, an EEI SO/PD II test, and the ability to coordinate outages, switching orders, and field staffing.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering/Electrical Engineering Technology, or related certification is required.
• 2–4 years' related work experience will be considered. Related work experience includes understanding to operate the distribution system.
• Pass the Edison Electric Institute (EEi) System Operator/Power Dispatching Test (SO/PD II) will be required.
• Capable of problem solving, multi-tasking and teamwork.
• Knowledge of distribution operation, maintenance and construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the day-to-day operations of the regional distribution system.
• Demonstrate safety commitment per APH and Manual of Operations.
• Recommend operational improvements and communicate system events to relevant personnel.
• Provide strong customer service to stakeholders.
• Operate SCADA EMS, GIS, OMS and related systems and communication tools.
• Analyze disturbances and restore the system to normal configuration promptly.
• Schedule and authorize outages and load transfers.
• Develop scenarios to identify problems caused by contingencies.
• Direct switching activities and work assignments to field personnel.
• Monitor system and weather conditions; coordinate staffing for emergencies.
• Complete training to progress to Regional Distribution System Operator level.
• Understand Bargaining Unit Agreements with field labor.
