Job summary

Oakland University is seeking a maintenance associate to help care for its golf course and surrounding landscapes. Under supervision, the incumbent will help maintain playing surfaces and landscaped areas as part of the Campus Maintenance & Trades team.

The role requires working weekends and holidays during the season, possessing a valid driver’s license, and meeting the listed qualifications. This is an MEA/NEA represented position with eligibility considerations for benefits and retirement

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Less than 1 year of golf course maintenance experience.
• Must have completed less than 9 academic hours in landscape technology or related field.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the University.
• Willing to work weekends and holidays during the season.

This position is an Oakland University Campus Maintenance and Trades – MEA / NEA position. The incumbent will be represented by the MEA / NEA .

This position will remain open a minimum of five (5) working days. External applicants may be considered. Qualified bargaining unit members will receive interviews and initial consideration.

Position Information

Minimum Qualifications

• High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Less than one (1) year of golf course maintenance experience.
• Must have completed less than nine (9) academic hours in landscape technology or a directly related field.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the University by the University’s insurance carrier.
• Must be willing to work weekends and holidays during the season.

Desired Qualifications

• State of Michigan pesticide applications certification.
