Job summary

City of Ann Arbor is seeking a reliable golf course maintenance worker at Huron Hills Golf Course in Ann Arbor Township, MI. The role involves operating maintenance equipment, watering greens and tees, and maintaining sand traps to keep the course in top condition.

Responsibilities include mowing, debris removal, and cup/tee marker changes; reporting to the Golf Course Green Keepers. CPR/AED and First Aid certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor, and follow oral and written instructions without close supervision.
  • Skilled in the use of hand and mechanical tools and equipment.
  • Must obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Knowledge of the proper use and operation of equipment used in golf course maintenance.
  • High School Diploma or GED and some experience in grounds keeping or equivalent.

  • This position involves semi-skilled manual and skilled equipment operation work in golf course maintenance

  • Mows turf with sophisticated golf maintenance equipment and picks up debris, leaves, and broken tree limb
  • Performs related work as required
  • Reports to permanent Golf Course Green Keepers
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor, and follow oral and written instructions without close supervision
  • Skilled in the use of hand and mechanical tools and equipment
  • Must obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification within 30 days of employment. The City offers CPR/AED and First Aid classes, which are free to Parks employees. Please note, your certification must be from an organization that has been approved by the Bureau of Community and Health Systems, Child Care Licensing Division. Please see following link for list of approved organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the proper use and operation of equipment used in golf course maintenance
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D Equivalent and some experience in grounds keeping; or any equivalent combination of education and experience

The work often involves the ability to perform routine moderate lifting and carrying up to 50lbs. including backpack mowers, tree trimmers, fertilizer bags and buckets with sand.
