Job summary

Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio seeks a Director of Grants to provide strategic leadership and service-oriented support for external funding across research, pedagogy, and institutional priorities.

The role partners with faculty, the Business Office, and Advancement to develop competitive proposals, manage the full grant life cycle, and expand opportunities for collaborative grants and partnerships. In-person work is expected on campus with some flexibility for remote work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s/PhD preferred.
• 3–5 years of supervisory and institutional leadership in a pre/post‑award office.
• 5+ years in grants administration or sponsored programs, preferably in higher education.
• Experience navigating federal funding portals (Grants.gov, Research.gov, era.nih.gov, Fastlane.NSF.gov).
• Experience serving as an authorized organizational representative (AOR).
• Record of successful support of competitive grant applications across disciplines.
• Experience editing and managing federal and other sponsored grants.
• Collaborative leadership with strong communication across diverse constituencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and continually improve grant‑seeking across the full grant life cycle.
• Develop strategies to strengthen campus culture of grant seeking and faculty engagement.
• Meet regularly with faculty to align research with external funding opportunities.
• Identify funding trends and opportunities aligned with Kenyon’s priorities.
• Collaborate with Provost and Advancement on collaborative and multidisciplinary proposals.
• Hire and supervise grants staff and oversee budgetary matters.
