Job summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham invites applications for a Grants Administrator-SOE to provide pre and post award grants support and manage operations in the School of Engineering. This role serves as the primary interface to investigators and university offices to ensure timely submission of proposals according to sponsor guidelines and UAB policies.

The position oversees effort reporting cycles, maintains procedures and resources, and offers onboarding and ongoing training to research

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Responsibilities

• Manages research grants administration for the School of Engineering, leads contact to faculty and university offices.
• Prepares, refines, reviews and submits sponsored proposals; explains requirements; calculates effort and budget; liaises with sponsors.
• Reviews grant components, completes required forms, obtains approvals, uploads documents, submits by deadline.
• Manages post-award activities; allocates costs, responds to notices, subcontracts, invoices, and cost transfers.
• Ensures performance of responsibilities by staff per timelines and policies; maintains efficiency and satisfaction.
• Serves as Department Effort Officer (DEO); oversees effort reporting and training for personnel.
• Serves on committees and attends research administration meetings.
• Provides onboarding and ongoing training; updates procedures and prepares activity reports.
• Interviews, hires, trains, and evaluates direct reports.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
