Job summary

Volunteers of America Delaware Valley is seeking an Accounting Manager to provide strong accounting leadership, ensuring GAAP compliance and robust internal controls. You will supervise grant and contract accounting, payroll allocations, and month-end close, while supporting the external audit process.

You will collaborate with program managers and grant writers to develop realistic budgets, monitor grant reporting, and prepare financial analyses for grantors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• Three years of general accounting experience.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, especially revenue recognition.
• Experience in grant and nonprofit accounting.
• Strong organization and prioritization skills.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of QuickBooks Online, Microsoft 365, Bill.com and strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform billings and reporting for all grants and contracts.
• Track and reconcile grant and contract receipts and payments.
• Oversee financial aspects of grant management in compliance with funding requirements.
• Collaborate with program managers and grant writers to develop grant budgets.
• Prepare and submit timely and accurate financial reports to grantors.
• Monitor grant budgets and address variances.
• Manage payroll allocations used in grant budgets and ensure accuracy.
• Ensure grant expenditures and revenue recognition align with agreements and regulatory requirements.
• Provide regular financial reports and analyses to program managers.
• Assist in grant proposal development including budget creation and narratives.
• Perform month-end close activities and general ledger maintenance.
