Job summary

Gateway Search Associates is seeking an Accounting Manager for a well-established nonprofit organization in Philadelphia. You will own the technical accounting function, drive audit readiness, strengthen internal controls, and guide financial reporting to support scaling and grant compliance.

Lead month-end close, redesign workflows, oversee allocations and donor reporting, mentor staff, and partner with cross-functional teams to align financial deadlines with strategic goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or MBA preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive nonprofit or grant‑heavy accounting experience.
• Expert understanding of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting.
• Proven track record with implementing or improving financial software systems.

Responsibilities

• Direct the complete month-end close cycle to ensure accuracy and speed.
• Redesign workflows to eliminate bottlenecks and standardize deliverables.
• Ensure reconciliations and financial schedules meet rigorous standards.
• Transform audit preparation into a year-round ready state; liaise with external auditors.
• Maintain robust internal controls compliant with GAAP and grant requirements.
• Oversee grant and fund accounting, allocations, and donor reporting.
• Oversee budgeting and long-term forecasting; implement reporting tools.
• Automate workflows and document processes to improve efficiency.
• Mentor finance staff and partner with cross‑functional teams to meet deadlines.
