Job summary

City of Goldsboro is seeking a Grant Accounting Manager to oversee grant life cycles and provide technical guidance across accounting staff. Responsibilities include grant compliance, SEFA reporting, and coordination with Workday for AP/AR/Payroll processes.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in accounting or related field with governmental accounting experience, plus GAAP knowledge and strong financial reporting skills. Regular full-time position with city benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business with governmental accounting coursework.
• Five (5) years of government or grant accounting experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting principles.
• IRS regulations and FLSA familiarity.
• Texas city finances knowledge.
• Experience with automated financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Review applications, reporting requirements, reimbursement requests, and grant compliance.
• Prepare and present grant policy training to City staff.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for SRFs.
• Coordinate testing of Workday AP/AR/Payroll.
• Prepare journal entries and reconciliations.
• Maintain internal audit coordination and reporting.
• Assist with year-end closeout and AFR notes.
• Ensure daily accounting activity accuracy and completeness.
• Support external audit documentation and schedules.
• Reconcile GL accounts and grant funds as needed.
