The Bronx River Alliance is seeking a Grants & Compliance Manager to coordinate all post-award activities, including budget oversight, reporting, and regulatory compliance for government grants and contracts.

You will work closely with Programs and Finance to ensure timely funder submissions, maintain organized grant files, and lead the Salesforce migration of grant tracking for centralized oversight across departments.

The Bronx River Alliance seeks a Grants & Compliance Manager - Bronx River Alliance
Position Overview

The Grants & Compliance Manager serves as the central coordinator for the Bronx River Alliance’s awarded grants and contracts, ensuring that grant commitments, budgets, deliverables, reporting requirements, and compliance obligations are effectively managed across the organization. Working within the Development team and in close partnership with Programs and Finance, the Manager provides dedicated post-award oversight of the Alliance’s institutional funding portfolio, with particular responsibility for complex government grants and contracts. A key priority will be leading the transition of existing grant tracking into Salesforce as the Alliance’s centralized grants-management system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Government Grants, Subawards & Compliance

Oversee compliance, risk management, and reporting for federal, state, and local government grants, contracts, and subawards (including Uniform Guidance requirements).
Navigate government portals (Grants.gov, NYS platforms, NYC PASSPort) and maintain organizational registrations, certifications, and compliance documentation.
Coordinate the administration of grant-funded subawards and partner agreements, including scopes, budgets, deliverables, reporting, and closeout requirements.
Support organizational audits, monitoring visits, and funder reviews by organizing grant files and responding to inquiries.

  • Grant Management, Deliverables & Reporting

Maintain c tracking of awarded grants, deliverables, reporting deadlines, and funder commitments.
Partner with program teams through regular check-ins to monitor project implementation, keep deliverables on schedule, and resolve challenges.
Lead post-award reporting in collaboration with program staff, compiling narrative and quantitative data to ensure accurate, timely funder submissions.
Maintain audit-ready granlear, centralizedt files (agreements, budgets, reports, invoices, amendments) and serve as primary contact for funder administration inquiries.

  • Budgeting & Financial Coordination

Develop and maintain grant budgets and financial tracking tools in partnership with Finance and program staff, ensuring alignment with funder approvals.
Monitor grant expenditures, revenue, and salary allocations across funding sources; reconcile variances and track reimbursement submissions.
Coordinate invoicing for reimbursement-based grants with Finance, ensuring proper supporting documentation and follow-up.

  • Systems & Process Improvement

Lead the migration of grant tracking from existing spreadsheets and shared files into Salesforce.
Structure Salesforce to track awards, deliverables, reporting deadlines, and compliance metrics, developing dashboards to increase visibility across departments.
Translate technical financial and regulatory requirements into practical guidance for staff.

Required Qualifications


Experience: 3–5+ years of relevant experience in post-award grants management, government contracts, nonprofit finance, or compliance.
Grant Oversight: Proven background managing complex grant portfolios, compliance, post-award reporting, and funder communication.
Financial Management: Proficiency building grant budgets, tracking expenditures, monitoring salary allocations, and coordinating grant invoicing/reimbursements.
Systems & Technical Skills: Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills and hands-on experience working with databases or CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred).
Communication: Exceptional written communication for funder reporting and strong cross-departmental collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience managing NYC and NYS government grants and contracts (e.g., NYC PASSPort, NYS portals, Grants.gov).
Familiarity with federal Uniform Guidance regulations.
Experience administering subawards, MOUs, subrecipient monitoring, or consultant contracts.
Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Asana).
Experience working within an environmental, community-based, conservation, or environmental justice nonprofit organization.
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or another language spoken by Bronx communities.
