Job summary

The City of Fayetteville, North Carolina is seeking a Crime Analyst to collect, process, analyze and distribute crime data, produce reports for supervision, and maintain intelligence files for the Police Department.

This grant-funded position supports the LEAD program, requires data querying across multiple systems, and involves GIS mapping, trend analysis and complex statistics to inform city policing and community safety efforts.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in statistical research and data analysis in a Police Department, other law enforcement agency or military intelligence.
• Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited community college with major course work in criminal justice, criminology, data science, geographic information sciences, or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Query, edit and manipulate data across multiple tables using programs such as Crystal Reports, SQL, Excel, Access and related backgrounds.
• Collect, research, analyze and distribute data related to criminal activities; compile information into reports; maintain various intelligence files.
• Compile daily activity summaries and disseminate data to sworn staff and executives as appropriate.
• Create and manage charts including association matrices and timelines.
• Create maps utilizing ARC-GIS; summarize crime hot-spots, trends and emerging patterns.
• Provide complex analytical support to the department for various special projects and assignments.
• Maintain LEAD database and prepare reports on LEAD activity for meetings; monitor participation and assist with data collection for grant reporting.
