Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a general production worker to weigh and grade grain products and support inbound/outbound logistics at our facility. This hourly role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and dependable attendance.

As part of a collaborative team, you will operate loading/unloading equipment, maintain inventories, and assist the facility manager with scheduling and process improvements while upholding Smithfield's commitment to quality and safe operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to understand and comply with all safety policies and practices.
• Verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills.
• Effective communication with grain customers.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Available to work extended weekday and weekend hours during grain harvest seasons.
• Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Weigh and grade inbound and outbound grain and grain products.
• Prepares scale receipts and enters deliveries into database.
• Operate loading/unloading equipment to ship or receive grain products.
• Inspect grain facilities daily for equipment condition.
• Help schedule logistics for inbound/outbound grain.
• Maintain inventories to maximize profitability including grain movements.
• Identify problems or improvements and assist in solutions.
• Interact with customers daily.
• Assist in safety programs and environmental compliance.
• Review emergency notification process at work site.
