Job summary

Smithfield Foods is hiring for a grain elevator operations role. You will tend, operate and oversee all areas of the elevator and related offices to ensure quality, productivity and safety, while maintaining strong service to farmers and customers.

Ideal candidates have grain experience and the ability to work independently or in a team, with readiness for extended weekday and weekend hours during harvest seasons.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Grain experience preferred.
• Able to understand and comply with all safety policies and practices.
• Verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills.
• Effective communication with grain customers.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Available to work extended weekday and weekend hours during grain harvest seasons.

Responsibilities

• Operate Smartsoft program and enter load information.
• Communicate with SG procurement and buyers on contracts.
• Grade grain and manage grading procedures.
• Load/unload grain with trucks and farmers.
• Operate loading/unloading equipment for grain shipments.
• Inspect facilities to maintain equipment and grain quality.
• Assist in scheduling logistics for inbound/outbound grain.
• Maintain inventories and monitor grain movements and blending.
