Smithfield Foods is seeking a grain handling associate to support scheduling, safety programs, and facility operations. You will weigh, grade, store, and move grain, while ensuring compliance with environmental and safety policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to understand and comply with all safety policies and practices.
• Verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills.
• Effective communication with grain customers.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Available to work extended weekday and weekend hours during grain harvest seasons.
• Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
• Respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Weigh and grade inbound/outbound grain and grain products to meet specifications.
• Operate loading/unloading equipment to ship or receive grain products.
• Inspect grain facilities daily for proper equipment condition.
• Help schedule logistics for inbound/outbound grain.
• Maintain inventories to maximize profitability (grain movements, condition, blending).
• Identify problems or improvements and work with manager on solutions.
• Deal with customers daily.
• Assist in implementing specific work or safety programs by SFD.
• Comply with environmental laws and notify supervisor of issues.
