Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a grain facility operator to assist in implementing work schedules, safety programs, and logistics while performing grain handling and facility operations. You will weigh, grade, and ship or receive grain products and help maintain inventories, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental policies.

The role requires daily interaction with customers, teamwork in a fast-paced setting, and flexibility to work extended hours during harvest seasons.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to understand and comply with all safety policies and practices.
• Verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
• Effective communication with grain customers.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Available to work extended weekday and weekend hours during grain harvest seasons.
• Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Be respectful, approachable and team-oriented while fostering positive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Weigh and grade inbound and outbound grain and products to meet specifications.
• Operate loading/unloading equipment to ship or receive grain products.
• Inspect grain facilities daily for equipment condition.
• Assist in scheduling logistics for inbound/outbound grain.
• Maintain inventories to maximize profitability and track grain movements.
• Identify problems and work with the manager on solutions.
• Interact with customers daily.
• Assist with safety programs and environmental compliance.
• Report environmental issues to supervisor and review emergency procedures.
