Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a grain facility worker to assist in implementing work schedules, safety programs, logistics, and record keeping with the facility manager while performing all aspects of grain handling and facility operations.

The role includes weighing and grading grain, preparing receipts, operating loading equipment and inspecting facilities, with responsibilities for inventory management and customer interactions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to understand and comply with safety policies and practices.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills and effective customer communication.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Willing to work extended weekday and weekend hours during grain harvest seasons.
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Weigh and grade inbound and outbound grain to meet specifications.
• Prepare scale receipts and log deliveries in database.
• Operate loading/unloading equipment to ship or receive grain.
• Inspect grain facilities daily for equipment condition.
• Assist in scheduling logistics for inbound/outbound grain.
• Maintain inventories and grain movements/blending.
• Identify problems and work with manager on solutions.
• Interact with customers daily.
• Assist in implementing safety programs and environmental compliance.
• Read and follow emergency notification processes at the site.
• Other duties as assigned.
