Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a hands-on grain handler to support weigh, grade, and logistics tasks at our facility. You will manage inbound/outbound grain, enter deliveries, operate loading equipment, and maintain inventory with a focus on safety and quality.

The role requires strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to work extended hours during harvest seasons. You will interact with customers daily while upholding environmental and safety standards at the site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow safety policies and practices.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and customer interactions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Availability to work extended weekday and weekend hours during grain harvest seasons.
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
• Be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Weigh and grade inbound and outbound grain to meet specifications.
• Prepare scale receipts and enter deliveries into the database.
• Operate loading/unloading equipment for grain shipping/receiving.
• Inspect grain facilities daily to ensure equipment and storage quality.
• Assist in scheduling logistics related to inbound/outbound grain.
• Maintain inventories and monitor grain movements and blending.
• Identify problems and work with the facility manager on solutions.
• Interact with customers daily to provide service.
• Support safety programs and environmental compliance at the site.
• Seek process improvements and report environmental issues promptly.
