Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a grain facility team member to weigh, grade and process inbound/outbound grain, operate loading equipment, and maintain inventory. You will interact with customers daily, follow safety rules, and support logistics in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires flexibility for harvest-season hours and collaboration with the facility team to ensure quality and regulatory compliance at all times.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to understand and comply with all safety policies and practices.
• Verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills.
• Effective communication with grain customers.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Available to work extended weekday and weekend hours during grain harvest seasons.
• Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
• Respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Weigh and grade inbound and outbound grain and grain products to meet SFD specs.
• Prepares scale receipts and enters deliveries into database.
• Operate loading/unloading equipment to ship or receive grain products.
• Inspect grain facilities daily for proper equipment condition.
• Help facility manager schedule inbound/outbound grain logistics.
• Maintain inventories to maximize profitability and manage grain movements.
• Identify problems or improvements and work with facility manager on solutions.
• Deal proficiently with customers daily.
• Assist in implementing safety programs set forth by SFD.
• Comply with environmental laws and procedures; report environmental issues to supervisor.
• Review the company’s emergency notification process.
