Job summary

MKC in Chanute, KS is seeking a leader to direct grain elevator operations, maintenance, and product quality control, while overseeing seed and feed sales. You will supervise staff, assist customers with fertilizer and chemical inquiries, orders, and complaints, and handle special projects as assigned by the area manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in agronomy or related field or five years in grain/agronomy experience.
• Proven management skills and ability to supervise staff.
• Operational knowledge of grain elevator machinery with ability to perform minor repairs.
• Knowledge of corn, wheat, beans, milo, and sunflowers; seed, feed, chemical, and fertilizer products.
• Ability to work independently; strong computer and data entry skills.
• Ability to read, interpret technical and regulatory journals.
• Must obtain and maintain a class 7B grain fumigation license.
• Must obtain and maintain a Class A CDL with HazMat endorsement.
• Customer service orientation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to adapt to change and handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Receive and ship grain efficiently with available staff.
• Maintain grain quality to the highest standard.
• Blend grains to maximize grade and price.
• Provide grain drying services and report grades for charges.
• Sample and grade shipments and report results.
• Ensure OSHA/state/federal safety regulations and maintain facilities.
• Plan repairs and upgrades with area manager.
• Train staff in NH3 handling and site procedures.
• Grow customer base and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Maintain NH3 equipment and supply to customers.
