Job summary

MKC is seeking a seasoned elevator operations manager to direct all aspects of elevator operations, maintenance, and grain quality control. You will supervise both full- and part-time staff, assist the agronomy team with fertilizer orders, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance across the facility.

Responsibilities include optimizing grain handling, coordinating inspections, and maintaining equipment while delivering outstanding customer service and a positive cooperative image.

Qualifications

• Proven management skills.
• Current operational knowledge of all machinery in elevator; minor repairs and scheduled maintenance.
• Good working knowledge of corn, wheat, beans, milo, sunflowers.
• Good working knowledge of seed, fertilizer, and chemical products.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Computer and data entry skills.
• Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks.
• Must obtain class 7B grain fumigation license.
• CDL A with HazMat and Tanker endorsements.
• Aiming to exceed customer expectations at each transaction.
• Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and apply technical journals.
• Ability to respond cordially to inquiries or complaints.
• Ability to write and log information and communicate with location manager.

Responsibilities

• Receive and ship grain efficiently using available staff.
• Maintain grain quality in elevator and fumigate as needed following safety guidelines.
• Blend grains to achieve maximum grade and price.
• Provide grain drying services and report grades for accurate charges.
• Sample and assign inspection grades for pricing and store reporting.
• Follow OSHA and safety regulations and conduct monthly safety training.
• Maintain all grain handling equipment and schedule major repairs with location manager.
• Supervise all full and part-time staff and address performance issues.
• Assist agronomy with fertilizer orders, loading and tendering, and field scouting.
• Manage bulk seed handling and assist seed sales efforts.
• Maintain a positive team attitude and cooperative image.
• Greet customers, handle loading/unloading, resolve problems, and report complaints.
• Participate in meetings and seek ways to improve skills and profitability.
• Bill delivery details clearly and enforce credit policy.
