Job summary

Buro Happold in the United States is seeking a Graduate Urban Development Engineer who will contribute to innovative, sustainable solutions across energy, water, and urban design. Based in Los Angeles or New York, you’ll work on design support, carbon analysis, and multidisciplinary collaboration to shape resilient cities.

You will develop client deliverables, dashboards, and performance models, collaborate with engineers, planners, and sustainability consultants, and grow professionally through

Qualifications

• On track to complete a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental science, urban planning, civil/energy engineering, or related field.
• Demonstrated interest in sustainable infrastructure and built environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Experience with design and analysis software (Revit, Rhino, GIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct energy, carbon, water, and/or waste analyses to identify opportunities for reducing environmental impact and resource use.
• Support sustainability, resilience, and climate action projects with strategic plans for clients.
• Prepare client deliverables including presentations, reports, and data visualizations.
• Collaborate with engineers, planners, and sustainability consultants to deliver innovative solutions.
