Buro Happold seeks a passionate Urban Development Intern for summer 2027, based in Los Angeles or New York. You’ll work on design support, high-performance strategies, materials research, and modeling across climate and people-focused projects.

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degree in related fields.
• Interest in sustainability and urban development.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop energy, carbon, water and waste analyses to reduce impact and resource use.
• Participate in complex strategic planning projects on sustainability and resilience.
• Create client presentations, memos, reports, graphics, maps and analyses.
• Investigate site strategies for utilities, stormwater, and multi-modal mobility.
• Assess renewable energy production feasibility and funding opportunities.
• Develop client communication and data visualization materials including dashboards.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, planners and sustainability consultants.
