Job summary

Buro Happold Limited is seeking an Urban Development Intern for the summer of 2027, based in Los Angeles or New York. You will help shape city-scale solutions, perform energy and sustainability analyses, and support projects across climate, water, waste and carbon with interdisciplinary teams.

The role offers a hybrid work model, a competitive hourly rate, and opportunities to engage with a global network of experts and development programs within our urban development practice.

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor’s or master’s in environmental sciences, urban planning or policy, civil or energy engineering, transportation planning, or similar.
• Interest and commitment to sustainable development and built environment.
• Experience with design tools: Revit, Rhino, GIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar; Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop energy, carbon, water and waste analyses to reduce impact and measure outcomes.
• Participate in strategic planning on sustainability, resilience and climate action.
• Create client presentations, memos, reports, graphics, maps and dashboards.
