Job summary

Butler University seeks a Graduate Coordinator for First Year Communities to support wellbeing and retention of first-year students living in on-campus housing. The role includes direct student interaction, planning engagement activities, and coordinating with campus partners to foster a sense of belonging.

This position is part-time, 20 hours per week, across a 10-month appointment from August to May, with a $12,000 stipend and tuition assistance of $5,000 for Butler graduate programs, plus a

Qualifications

  • Must be currently pursuing a graduate degree at an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and experience with college students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and speech.
  • Ability to manage high-pressure situations and exercise sound judgment.
  • Physical ability to climb stairs for emergency access.

Responsibilities

  • Support student wellbeing and retention for first-year students in on-campus housing.
  • Plan and coordinate programming to promote first-year student success.
  • Maintain regular contact with residents and document concerns.
  • Respond to emergencies and coordinate with campus resources during on-call duty.
  • Keep accurate records of occupancy, facilities concerns, and incidents.
  • Participate in division and university meetings as directed.
