Job summary

University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is seeking an Academic Advisor I or II in Milwaukee to guide admitted Graduate Business students through Lubar College programs and degree requirements, emphasizing advising, retention, and collaboration with faculty and staff to support student success.

The candidate will mentor students, coordinate events, and use campus data to inform recruitment and program improvements within a robust academic advising framework.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher required.
  • At least 1 year of professional academic advising experience in higher education.
  • Preferred: Master's degree or higher; 3+ years advising experience; excellent written and oral communication; experience working with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

  • Advise, coach, and guide admitted Graduate Business students through Lubar's courses leading to a graduate degree.
  • Maintain knowledge of graduate programs and requirements for Lubar College of Business.
  • Collaborate with Graduate Student Services to develop and host events and outreach to admitted students.
  • Lead the annual retention plan to improve graduation rates and student success.
  • Work with faculty on program changes and admission decisions.
  • Use campus CRM and data to assess recruitment initiatives and refine strategies.
